Dr. Gonzalez specializes in Periodontics and Dental implants with emphasis on Periodontal Plastic Surgery, giving his patients the benefit of over sixteen years of experience in these dynamic areas of dentistry.
Dr. Enrique Gonzalez, was raised in Grecia, Costa Rica. He attended Berea High School in Ohio, USA and received his Doctor in Dental Surgery in 1992 from the The University of Costa Rica, College of Dentistry.
From 1992 to 1999, Dr. Gonzalez practiced general dentistry for the Costa Rican Health Department and the Costa Rican Social Security System. In 1994, he opened his private practice in Grecia and taught at the University of Costa Rica, College of Dentistry from 1996 to 1999.
In June 1999, he attended the Baylor College of Dentistry at Dallas for a three-year specialty training program in Periodontics and Implant Surgery. During this training, Dr. Gonzalez completed a rotation in Anesthesiology at the Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX and an external-ship at the VA Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Gonzalez earned his certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science for his research in: “Gene Expression in Healthy Human Gingival Tissue”
Following his residency he returned to Costa Rica as a specialist on the leading edge of treatment of gum diseases and the use of dental implants.
He is currently a member of the:

• Costa Rican Dental Association
• Grecia´s Dental Association
• Baylor Alumni Association
• Costa Rican Academy of Periodontology & Implant Dentistry
Presently, Dr. Gonzalez has a teaching appointment as a part-time post-doctoral Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Costa Rica, College of Dentistry.
He has two private practices in Costa Rica: San Rafael de Escazu and Grecia, Alajuela. The focus of his private practice centers upon the surgical reconstruction of supporting tissues for the preservation of teeth and dental implant site development.
Education is important to Dr. Gonzalez. He is active in professional continuing education and gives lectures, presentations and symposiums to colleges, hospitals and dental societies on topics including:
